promised photo

So I eventually took a photo of her with the aquarium DVD. I stopped playing it drove me mental one evening. The bubbling water sounds disturb Mittens too. This photo is of her trying to track down the noise while standing on the source (my mac mini - look how small it is compared to the monitor; tee hee ha)

Miss mittens at candle light

This is kind of a Christmassy video:

Let's call it Mittens' first advent, advent two candles are burning. And they make the darkness much less gloomy. We were in Ikea the other day, buying a mat, when we found her a Christmas pressie. Truly. So I wrapped it up and left it in the middle of the mat (where else in our tiny flat). The first day I noticed a rip in the paper - like a kid shaking to see what it was, she did the kitty equvalent. Cute. What else? The day she ripped it a big more. I since gave it the litter bag treatment with some hardcore brown parcel tape. Her first Christmas.

I made her a bench on the front window ledge and she loves to sit on it and peer out the space left between the privacy frosty stickers.... one day she'll be out there.

digging for gold

She certainly likes kitty litter; she digs around after a poop like she buried a treasure which must be located and now she's discovered the source - the bag - which she tries to climb inside. Somehow she manages to still be cute while she claims the bathroom as her territory.

We bought her some tennis balls the other day. Not as much fun as cable ties it seems (or table tennis balls which, due to their size, are forever disappearing under the furniture) but she seems to like the fact she can stick her claws into them.

Talking of claws - ow. Do you think she knows how sore it is when she climbs your leg. Especially, I found out yesterday, on bare legs when she launched herself on my legs as I was sitting on the toilet.

Ha ha ha, this is a poopy post.

eee-ow

... she's nearly there.

Yesterday she climbed into a plastic bag.

twice

Mittens is nearly twice the size and twice the age when she came to live with us. How time flies. It's been a fun few months - I can't imagine life without the little critter.

I've been waiting for her miauw to mature - at the moment she does strange squeaks, but then I was told that some cats never learn, especially single cats. Of course as a new age parent, who samples cat food, this would never do. Therefore, as of yesterday, I have begun private tuition. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks guys!

Mittens went to stay at the Smillens (Smith+Billens) house last weekend when I was away in New York on my Brendan rescue trip. [He landed up a dreary week in hospital after collapsing 3 miles from the finish line of the marathon. All's well that, and read his blog for details.]

Anyway, she looked well settled in when we arrived to pick her up - her kitty litter was merrily strewn across the floor, she was prancing on the table, and Dave was sporting play/fight scars (very graciously I must add). So ... thanks guys.

long time no sea

I kinda gave up on this blog because I didn't think anyone was reading, but some personal comments made me reconsider. Anyway, what's been happening in Mittens land lately?

Well for one she's definitely growing and that also means more places in reach. Last night and tonight she's demonstrated she can climb ontop of the TV and onto the ledge above the fireplace.

Her fascination with water has not ceased either. The other day she almost accidentally got in the bath with me, ha ha ha!

aquarium

I found an aquarium dvd at a novelty shop the other day, and couldn't help but buy it. It took some time, but Mittens does watch intently. I'll take a photo of her cuteness.
